 About the Role:


  • Responsible for IT infrastructure, business systems architecture and implementation, and IT security.
  • Create and maintain a comprehensive cross-site IT strategy and architecture to match information flows, business and scientific requirements, goals and needs.
  • Create and execute a technology roadmap that supports business needs with integrated and phase proper system capability, including ERP systems and GXP management systems 
  • Oversee in-house and vendor-managed services for system and infrastructure selection, implementation and maintenance and strike a balance between outsourcing and internalizing functions.
  • Manage relationships/agreements with all external partners/vendors.
  • Work with senior-level stakeholders across the organization to identify business and technology needs and to optimize the use of information technology.
  • Ensure secure and efficient day-to-day IT operations, including but not limited to networking, server and desktop systems, cloud computing, software applications, printing, telecommunications, and internet access.
  • Perform continuous updates and proactive monitoring of all systems.
  • Research and recommend new technologies for security, hardware and software.
  • Define and manage core IT policies, standards, and best practices.
  • Review and maintain the compliance to established standards and policies.
  • Formulate and implement business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
  • Act as the information security officer. Define and execute a long-term cyber security strategy, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of all IT & data assets.
  • Accelerate the efforts of the Automation Team: ensuring IT infrastructure support for data platforms and coordinating with Scientific Computing for lab equipment integration with LIMS and data storage in cloud computing systems.
  • Maintain effective communication between the IT and scientific and business teams.
  • Acts  an ambassador for Metagenomi's culture  during the IT onboarding of new hires.  



About You:


What will enable you to thrive as our new Director of IT will be:


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or IT or equivalent degree or experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years supervising information technology professionals, preferably in industry.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience working in the information technology profession.
  • Proven track record of leading and delivering complex large-scale IT projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver large-scale IT projects on time and on budget.
  • Proven track record of leading information security.
  •  Well versed in modern SaaS applications, including Google Workspace, Zoom, Box, Slack etc.
  • Fluent in JAMF, OKTA and Meraki administration or similar technologies.
  • Experience in business systems architecture, implementation and maintenance, including ERP systems and GXP management systems, as well as system validation and change control
  • Knowledge and experience in working with the business and operations departments of the company to ensure systems support in compliance with financial, corporate and pharmaceutical regulations.
  • Superb working experience in the biotech industry to benchmark phase-proper IT capability build and serve as the partner to the executive team in making sound business decisions in IT investment.
  • Experience working in R&D biotechnology environments preferred.
  • Strong team player who can proactively partner across teams to identify and solve organizational problems
